Chulbul Pandey, the maverick cop is back. We miss his mother as she met her end in the first part itself. We have some humorous moments between the father-son, and in the office between the cop and his subordinates. That is Dabangg 2 for you.
Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan), the mischievous, yet the favourite cop is transferred toKanpur, where he shifts base with his wife Rajjo (Sonakshi Sinha), step-father Prajapati (Vinod Khanna) and brother Makkhi (Arbaaz Khan).
The local dons are not pleased with his transfer to their home ground, as their business is in trouble. Pandeyji has some of his loyal constables transferred with him. Like mentioned earlier, the local-don and an aspiring politician Thakur Bachcha (Prakash Raj). Bachcha and his troublesome brothers are in a disturbed state of mind.
It all begins when the local don’s brother Gainda (Deepak Dobriyal) goes overboard by threatening a girl’s father and goes one step further of openly – forcibly getting married to a girl who is in the midst of her wedding.
The robin hood cop Chubul Pandey stops the don’s brother and in this endeavor the goon loses his life. Irate Thakur Bachcha, in the midst of his campaigning now resolves to avenge his brother’s death
Salman Khan is loveable yet again in this avatar of a corrupt-yet a good cop. Prakash Raj is okay, and does appear menacing especially towards the climax.
We have Kareena Kapoor in a super sexy in the item song – Fevicol, with Salman Khan shaking his hips on the number.
For the debutant director Arbaaz Khan, it’s a dream debut, since he was treading on the safe path of the success of Dabangg and more so, plainly speaking – he en cashes the golden run for Salman Khan’s movies at the box office. One thing nice about Arbaaz Khan’s attempt is that this part appears more polished than the previous one, and may be appreciated by the urban masses than the rural folk.
Sandeep Shirodkar’s background music is okay, overshadowed by Aseem Mishra’s cinematography. Again the duo Sajid-Wajid stike a gold at the hit songs, the favourite being Fevicol number which is picturised on Kareena Kapoor.
There are some repetitive moments carried forward from the first part. Like the instance of a mobile ring tone, and some wiry one-lines from Salman Khan. Yes, he does go bare-chested in the fight sequence this time too.
Overall, Dabangg 2 is much better than the previous version with some enjoyable with the action, mature instances of romance and the rib-tickling comedy.
